This coming Saturday, 2nd October will see club legend, Byron “B.Y” Tejano, play his 400th game for Henley Athletic FC at Bildeston Rangers, a truly amazing display of loyalty and commitment, increasingly rare in the modern game.
A 17 year old Byron made his Henley debut in SIL Division 4, on September 1st 2007 in a 2-5 away win at Ipswich Exiles, scoring his 1st goal 2 weeks later against Ufford Sports. In his 399 games to date he’s scored 148 goals, including 5 in 10 games in this current season alone, a remarkable tally for a midfielder, indeed one that many strikers would be proud of.
Creative, combative and totally committed to the club, Byron’s skills are much respected around both SIL and Thurlow Nunn clubs, he rarely scores an “ordinary” goal and his trickery has left many a defender tied in knots, wondering where he’s gone. Alongside his mate, Club Captain Mark “Bushi” Storey, who has already passed the 400 appearance milestone, he is the pulsing heartbeat of Henley. He’s been with us on our journey through 5 divisions to the upper echelons of SIL Senior, accumulating league and cup winner’s medals and a plethora of club awards along the way.
Much loved by the Henley Ultras for always giving 100% in every game, and being a constant contender for their weekly MOTM vote, the club would like to thank Byron for his service to Henley Athletic FC and are looking forward to celebrating this incredible achievement with a presentation at Saturday’s game. #BY400
