SIL Premier Division: Debenham LCFC 3-0 Henley Athletic FC
A poor Henley performance saw a fully deserving Debenham take the points with a 3-0 win. Debenham, clearly smarting from their two consecutive defeats at the hands of Henley earlier in the season, were determining to not allow the same to happen again and quite simply wanted it more on the night.
After an even opening period it was Debenham who took the lead after 10 minutes, Spurling punching clear a corner, the ball recycled back into the six yard area and neatly headed home by Wandira for 1-0. Henley came close after 22 minutes, Cole cutting inside, his shot dipping narrowly over the bar. On 26 minutes Debenham made it 2-0, Henley failing to be first to the second ball and Broom finishing well from just inside the area to make it 2-0. Henley pushed forward after 34 minutes, Banya breaking well and finding Wharton-Richardson, whose shot flashed past the post. Leaving the score 2-0 at HT.
The second half produced little of note, although Henley dominated possession, they failed to carve a serious chance throughout. Meanwhile Spurling had the be at his best after 55 minutes to make a great save from a 20 yard strike. But it was Debenham who put the game beyond any doubt after 73 minutes, a ball unnecessarily given away in their own half, saw Henley punished again as a well taken goal from Ingle made it 3-0 at FT.
